During the spring of 2002, Jenny and I took a couple of day trips one of these trips was to Cedar Key, FL and the other to Fort Clinch on Fernandina Island, FL.
Cedar Key
Cedar Key was not at all what I or Jenny very imagined. Cedar Key is merely a lose collection of island made up of shells (as seen in the pictures below). The town is literally built over the water, which is the Gulf of Mexico. I had always believed Cedar Key to be a big tourist destination, however it is more little a quite fishing village, you would likely see in the Northeast US.
Fort Clinch
This is my favorite fort, it was one of the only fort built for the Civil War. The entire fort is built out of clay brick and is still in fairly good condition. The unique thing about this civil war fort was that it was built by union soldiers.

In the picture above there is a black sub, traveling to the King's Bay Naval Sub Station, I just thought it was cool to have a single picture of US military both historic and present.
